Some info on the pictures

I used a (cheap) Fujifilm Finepix 2800Zoom, which was a 2 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera with a six-power zoom lens. That was pretty good for the time! Most of the shots were taken at the camera's finest resolution, which yielded 1600x1200 pixel compressed jpegs of about 750 kilobytes. I had many megabytes of SmartMedia flash memory of a couple of different brands and it all seemed okay. I used all of it and more.

For power I used four Sunpack 1800 mAh Ni-MH AA batteries which performed just fine, even down to 15 degrees F. I had a Sunpack PicturesPlus Ultra-fast battery charger (which came with an adapter for the van's cigarette lighter) and it, too, worked as advertised. For back-up I used AA alkalines.

The shots were downloaded and massaged in Paint Shop Pro 7.02 on an old PC and Graphic Converter Classic 5.9.3 on an old PowerMac. All the images were first cropped for composition, then enhanced (white balance, color, contrast, etc.), resized (resampled) to fit the page, sharpened (as little as possible, but needed after resizing), and finally saved as jpegs of around 30 Kbytes.

Light sculpts the world. Almost all of the pictures here are just snapshots, although a couple were selected from maybe half a dozen carefully composed shots that were taken over a period of time -- and light.
